Gerry Crispin took a few minutes to chat with Rod Broshinsky, VP Talent Acquisition of new CXR Member BrandSafway. BrandSafway is a leading provider of specialized services to the global industrial, commercial and infrastructure markets with 45,000 employees in approx 30 countries. It is interesting to note that 90% of their workforce are craft laborers. Finding those niche laborers on that scale certainly brings plenty of challenges as does recent growth for the company. Learn how the evolutions of BrandSafway, particularly over the past two years, have kept Rod engaged and excited.
Listen in as Madeline Laurano of Aptitude Research talks with Gerry Crispin about the results of our recent survey on talent acquisition challenges. We asked TA leaders to tell us what challenges are going to dominate their workload in the coming year. And while all the proposed challenges had at least a few people agree that they were going to be issues dealt with this year, five issues truly rose to the top of the list.
In this episode of Up neXt, Gerry connects with Kelly Cartwright, Head of Talent Acquisition Technology Strategy, Amazon Web Services (AWS). She shares the complexity of working at Amazon, why she’s been there for almost 6 years, and how her “pretty cool gig” keeps her excited about her career path.
Gerry catches up with Shelia Gray who describes how her interest and experience with TA transformation in several firms led to her decision to join Quadient, a French-based company with facilities in 22 countries. Shelia works from Raleigh, NC and describes in fascinating detail her 5 goals for the next 6 months. Even more amazing is that outside of her traveling the world for work, she has made the time for her current passion of teaching English as a Foreign Language to the many immigrants who have come to America and are living in Raleigh.
In this two-part segment, China Gorman and Lars Schmidt chat with leaders from Enterprise Holdings, American Airlines, Waste Management, (and each other!) about their insights and experiences related to why BOTH candidate and employee engagement is so important.
For the second year in a row, CXR was asked to bring a select group of HR and Recruiting professionals to Dublin, Ireland to meet with various TA peers and industry tech start-ups. And just weeks after returning from their trip the HR delegation regroups to discuss what they experienced, who they met, and how they’re using what they learned on the trip now that they’re back in their respective organizations and looking at challenges going forward.
In this podcast, Chris Hoyt catches up with Grant Clough, Director of Talent Acquisition, AARP and Scott Weaver, Director of Talent Acquisition, Teradata, to talk about not only the experience of candidates but of the larger TA structure. In the recent CXR meeting that addressed the full stakeholder experience (Candidate, Recruiter, and Hiring Managers) these teams shared a more holistic approach to the “X” experience in an effort to largely improve the quality of recruiting within their organizations.
Clough and Weaver share the tremendous amount of work that has gone into the mapping of not only the stakeholders but also their employees who might be considering a move internally. This meant a multi-year effort to map the entire recruiting experience and making some tough decisions that would ultimately lend themselves to improve aspects that were determined to have the most impact to both speed and quality deliveries from their teams.
Those that attended the meeting (and current CXR members) have access to the visual maps that were shared by AARP and Teradata leaders as well as more information specific to the results of getting stakeholders involved from the beginning and rolling this considerable initiative to teams over the course of various iterations and levels of engagement. Lastly, our interviewees on this podcast share, quite candidly, what they’d do differently if starting this work all over again.
Gerry Crispin meets with Melissa Le after a recent CXR colloquium meeting to talk about her big takeaways after a day and a half with over 30 TA leaders focused on a new take on the Candidate Experience. At the Charlotte-based Spectrum headquarters, we spent two days collaborating with professionals from across the country who were focused on not just the candidate, but also the experiences of the hiring manager and recruiters.
The best advice to those wanting to contribute to a CXR meeting? “Bring what you know, ask what you want, and be ready to make real friendships.”
Chris Hoyt takes a few moments to connect with Intuit’s Céleste Luzadder-Frick to catch up on her experience at the recent Stakeholders colloquium meeting held at Spectrum’s Charlotte headquarters. There, 30 companies convened to learn more about what each is doing to deliver an exceptional candidate experience not only to the candidate but to the hiring managers and recruiters as well.
Additionally, Luzadder-Frick talks about why she thinks the new CXR Local events are an interesting experiment in community and why kicking off in the heart of Silicon Valley will be interesting.
